Any 3 Initials - Ruins of America finalmente esce!

Pochi si ricorderanno di 'sta band post-Flipper,un side project con Will Shatter (l'originale cantante-bassista dei Flipper),un tizio dei Bad Posture e il mitico Joe Dead. Questi registrarono un album tipo nell'86 che non uscì mai. La Subterranean produsse solo qualche test pressing,ciò nonostante una copia su cassetta è circolata tra i collezionisti.
Finalmente ora un'etichetta francese sta per licenziare l'album (i master sembrano perduti ma hanno ottenuto un nuovo master da una copia di test pressing) comprensivo di 8 tracce bonus (alcune demo mai circolate prima). Purtroppo in edizione limitata (200 copie) e solo su CD-R. Ma è già meglio di nulla! Esce a dicembre 2011.

A3i was an early to mid 80's SF band fronted by one of the most unique and talented poets in punk rock or rock and roll history WILL SHATTER.
When the band formed Will was already a historic figure in punk rock having been in the great NEGATIVE TREND and the almighty FLIPPER. Take the great poet and mix in two parts from one of the most raw, powerful, hardcore punk bands of all time BAD POSTURE and you have the foundation for some fucked up, shit! With Emilio on bass, and Mike on drums you have the best of the fuckin best laying it down hard and fast or slow and heavy. Add in one young punk kid guitar player that didn't know shit and you have A3i.
MEKA is proud to present RUINS OF AMERICA. Made from the best available source ( the test pressing of the LP - entirely re-mastered ) with 8 unreleased songs .

Finalmente m'è arrivato,dopo un mese che mi era stato spedito (grazie tanto come al solito alle mai troppo lordate poste italiane!!).

Geniale l'idea di porre il CDR in una confezione da 7",apribile a mò di libretto e contenente lunghe liner notes a cura di Joe Dead. Un esempio da seguire se si vuole proporre edizioni ufficiali abbattendo i costi al limite e riuscendo comunque a confezionare un prodotto abbastanza curato.
Sono riprodotti i testi delle canzoni e alcune foto dal vivo (già apparse in rete,ma sempre piacevoli da vedere anche su carta stampata).
La qualità è certamente migliore delle versioni dell'album tratte da cassette generate e circolate in rete negli anni addietro,e ci sono pure dei demo inediti mai giunti alla luce prima!!

In generale sono soddisfatto,spiace un pò che un disco simile non abbia trovato posto su vinile (al contrario di molta altra roba qualitativamente deficitaria). A suo modo,Ruins of America avrebbe avuto tutti i numeri per assurgere al ruolo di classico! (magari classico "minore",ma pur sempre un piccolo cult). L'unica nota sgradevole riguarda l'adesivo "Don't pay more than 5 Euros" (ebbene sì,c'è pure qui! La tradizione continua...    ) che è incollato proprio nel punto in cui la copertina è apribile,assumendo quindi il ruolo di maledetto bollino SIAE.. Per tagliarlo ho dovuto usare la forbice e la copertina ne ha un pò risentito.


A parte questo,lode a MEKA Productions per aver riportato alla luce una chicca del punk minore USA (avrei sperato in Pierpaolo,ma ormai è tardi!) con costi ridottissimi sia per l'etichetta che per l'acquirente.
